Training
"Admonish the unruly, encourage those who are struggling, help the weak, and be patient with everyone."
The Bible teaches that believers have the responsibility to admonish the unruly, encourage those who are struggling, help the weak, and be patient with everyone (1 Thess. 5:14). Many Christians are daunted by the implications of that passage to those with troubled marriages, anger issues, depression, or a variety of other problems. We believe that God has provided the hope and answers we need in his all-sufficient and authoritative Word.
Therefore, we have designed a counseling training program, based on over 15+ years of counseling experience, that will help you help those who are struggling - whatever their problems or troubles might be.

Reading Class
Increase your understanding of biblical counseling and theology by participating in our reading and role play class. Our reading and role play class is interactive & instructor lead that lasts ~16 weeks.
The four selected books are from ACBC’s approved reading list and represent the top books written from within the biblical counseling community.
We read ~100 pages per week independently and participate in weekly group discussions covering the content we read the previous week.
The only cost is the purchase of the books (~ $70 for 4 books, or less if you buy them used).
ACBC Exam Class
The ACBC Exam is no easy task. 2 parts, 44 questions, each requiring 1 - 1 1/2 page of essay. While some individuals study and prepare on their own, we have discovered that a "community" approach to studying provides a collaborative and disciplined approach to successfully preparing and passing the ACBC exam.
The class is designed to prepare you and walk with you through the entire ACBC exam process. Those who have taken our exam prep class have indicated the class made taking the exam so much more doable and easier.
Class Location: Onsite at Headwaters Church.
Length: Our class meets for 22 weeks, but holidays are observed. Therefore, the length of the class will range from 23 to 25 weeks depending on the holiday schedule.
Rhythm: Each week we address two questions from the ACBC exam. Each student comes to class having already studied and answered each question. Our instructor(s) will lecture for around 30 minutes on each question providing key points and application to counseling. Individuals will be provided an opportunity to read their response and receive immediate feedback.
Follow-up: Notes of each lecture will be provided. Instructor(s) are available during the 22 weeks to provide feedback on participant exam answers.
